INKBLOTS

Both Mum and Dad were born hereabouts

Less than two years and two miles apart
A mile if you’re a crow. Averagely small
Or large, depending

Neither bound by tantrums or profundity

Dad the first of four
Mum first and final, excluding stillborns

No middle names
In between their births
Herman Rorschach came up
With his inkblot test for personality

Dad would have said
It was a wood pigeon, probably

Mum would have seen an eagle

Already picking at Prometheus
