Visite À Oscar Dominguez

This short silent film records the legendary meeting between the young filmmaker Alain Resnais and Spanish painter Óscar Domínguez, one of the masters of Surrealism. Domínguez was born in Tenerife in 1906 and died in Paris in 1957. A devout admirer of Picasso and a rebellious disciple of André Breton, here he is presented in austere solitude. This is one of several early film portraits of artists by Resnais, although many of these have been lost.
