Your Otherness

Migrants, migrants everywhere,
two hundred and thirty million
scattered here and scattered there;
if you’re of use or one of us,
come on in, we’ll make a fuss;
but, if you’re one who had to flee,
poor migrant or a refugee,
your otherness
will mark you down as one to fear,
we’ll watch you drown.
Not welcome here.
