Waking Up To Mourning

————- (30) ————-

imagine a stained handkerchief over the face
of a broken statue mirrored in a high window
reflecting an awareness of dying geography
what has happened to the refrain of subjectivity
idiosyncrasy derives primarily from irrational being
and the odd hour of our mindless end is signified by
a whistle of worthless frustration behind drawn curtains
and mental footfalls in a pool of restless blood
as a hesitant lasso of venal mourning tightens
