Acrobats

She brought this great heaviness
with her.

Like quarried rock.

And the Keystone critics
called our time together in the trenches
a “doggerel burlesque.”

Which sharpened our alliance
to the head of a pin.

Tore acrobats
from the leotard heavens.

That superglue way
we stuck together.

If that
is not an agreement,
the sun has lost the sky
for good.
