Here Be The Summer Speakeasy

This month’s Here Be The Summer SpeakEasy also contains a few live clips from our first Live Speak Easy event since March 2020.

The live event was held in the Gasyard Bistro cafe on Thursday 17th June 2021

Performers featured in this month’s online SpeakEasy Derry event:

1. Amy Rafferty – Spring Song (accompanying film by her brother Bill Rafferty

2. Shazz White – fabulous local Singer/Performer/Songwriter contributes 2 fabulous covers, Bob Dylan’s To Ramona and Cannonball by Damien Dempsey

3. Paul Butterfield Jnr. from Limavady, whom some have sound a tad controvrsial contributes 2 new poems today, for you to contemplate

4. The Storm Weather Shanty Choir (from Norway) have contributed a Shanty called Hog Eye

5. Riley James hails from St. Louis, USA but now resides in Glasgow Scotland. Riley’s track for today is called No Ghost

6. The Dead Thatcher’s (feat. Frank Rafferty) contribute 2 tracks from their forthcoming album titled Nae Paseran Ya Bass

The tracks contributed are; Skin of the Ghost and Nae Paseran Ya Bass.

7. A few clips from our June Speak Easy live event are included too. 4 short clips of Frank Rafferty, Cat Brogan, Connor Hutcheon (Hutch) and Cherish. All filmed and edited by Darren Harkin (local animator & Film-Maker)

8. This month’s SpeakEasy online event rounds off with a marvellous film by Sean Coyle called Nervosa. The film involves the considerable talent and craft of the best young actors and film-makers in this part of the world.

From July/August onwards as well as returning to delivering face to face arts and craft workshops, we will again be providing 2 open mic events each month.
The Speak Easy and Silver Silver Tongued Deviance are open mics where all are welcome, the latter being a collaboration between Bluebell Arts Derry & Void Gallery.
