KEEP IT SIMPLE

I’ve just returned from the Ezra Pound shop
With a cut price book of rhymes
Which I’ll now doctor and plagiarise
Then submit to International Times…
The Editor happens to be a good friend
And this opportunity he’ll not wish to waste
To show my offering to his readership
Of discrimination discernment and taste
(Readers, who are only too well aware
Of abstract Poetry’s curse
And who do not wish to be assailed
By convoluted pretentious verse)
So
When it eventually goes into print
My joy will be unalloyed
But
If it’s not “liked”
And thus it gets “spiked”
I’ll just sulk
And be very annoyed
