Listening Out

The proliferation of a Phaser effect on popular

music vocals is an irritant, but I don’t blame Cher.
Someone shouts, and if you do not turn around
there is less mystery than intended. When I hear
her freneticism, I know there are platitudes of
anger to come.  The improvisations of Trygve Seim
& Frode Haltli can buzz like bees, or sit beautifully
in the corner of a café.  A slight squeal of the
trolley’s wheels signal movement, and that is more
than OK by me. When wasps have left a silent
chasm behind.
