The Great Féminine Refusal

Bonsoir, amis. A new issue of Distinctively Dionysian, The Great Féminine Refusal: Neither Sister Nor Servant, is complete—printed once again on handmade paper, looking very pretty.

This issue is not mere rejection—it is the seizing of what was never given, the refusal to kneel, et le triomphe d’une femme égoïste. The Great Féminine Refusal is a whispered spell of undoing from one who belongs to no cause. A decadent revolt against collectivity, morality, and ideology—this is not theory, but artful sabotage. Un sabotage féminin, without the phantasms that still haunt some of our favorites. If you’ve ever tasted your own sovereignty and smiled at the scandal, this issue already belongs to you.

Un clin d’œil au cher Ron Sakolsky. Blending insurrectionary individualisme with surrealist rupture—undoing the dystopian present through aesthetic sabotage.

About Distinctively Dionysian:

Heretics, free spirits, iconoclasts, outlaws, anarchists, incendiary lovers, rebels with dark laughter… Bienvenue.

Distinctively Dionysian is for the passionate individual who defies the static and status quo. This journal is created for my own pleasure et those whose spirit resonates with mine—kindred exiles, cherished confidants, and rare affinities drawn to the same intoxicating fire. It ferociously rejects complicity, mediocrity, collectivism, and conformity…

Dionysian is contains original, nouvelle writings and arts, as well as ghosts from the past, and often, translations that have never seen the light of day. In fact, translation et language are part of the reason it began. There is a particular delight in translation, lifting the forbidden, the forgotten, and the misread from one world and placing it into another, and bringing the fire of a particular French lens to the forefront. This journal is not an act of education but of indulgence—of reclamation, of savoring words twisted by puritanical hands and restoring them to something worthy; of resurrecting erased ghosts and celebrating the unique; of presenting new provocations, and of staking my own space within the égoïste-individualist milieu. There is no agenda here, I simply enjoy writing, and now have the time to do so after raising a crew of remarkable children 🙂

Dionysian is printed in French et English, et is not for everyone; it is reserved for wild things. It celebrates those with heightened desire who scorn the banality of ‘ists’ and ‘isms’ ~all causes that would dare strip them of their freedom. It is for me, primarily, as I love writing, and for friends and conspirators as they desires, but it is also a love letter to the rare poètes maudit with insurrectionary hearts out there refusing control, reveling in toppling false idols, and finding in sin and crime a wellspring of life to mark as their own, with me.

So, take my hand, all you self-owned, self-created individualistes; let us be enraptured by the seductive charm of the gloriously grand creative… nothing.

~ Yours,
Egoistically, but of course.
XO Fíona V.
