She didn’t wear purple
Or a red hat
(had better taste than that)
Or spend all her pension on drink,
(liked a Snowball at Christmas)
But worked on for a pittance,
(her boss was Knighted for
Services to Tourism…I think)
Breathed her last behind screens
In a charity ward she shared
With three others
(nothing down for them either)
While two chirpy women
(both volunteers)
Chatted amiably:
“Beam me up Scotty!” one says:
And she never wore purple
Or a red hat.
