RANTERS WRITING GROUP

Myself and my friend and fellow writer Gianluca Galetti are setting up a writers group, plus an accompanying website/blog (and maybe a printed version later) in which to facilitate a space for the various forms of our writing, and hence opinions, which will hopefully give us a bit more exposure to the wider world than the proverbial next door neighbour, his best friend, and his dog! We are fed up with being disempowered and locked out by the establishment media and its polite society of liars, cheaters, planet-sized ego’s and third rate ‘experts’ with nothing to show for their existence apart from some bullshit PhD they did at Oxbridge and the ensuing pseudo-intellectual opinions they try to shove down our throats, each and every day.

All forms of writing, in whichever genre or narrative/non-narrative template, on all kinds of subjects, will be accepted; from philosophical tracts, observations and essays on culture and all forms of art, science and society, plus a good old sticky dollop of funny, foaming-at-the-mouth, ranty missives to keep the kiddies happy.On that note, one of the focuses of the group will be to create a space in which to vent our spleens on all of the idiocy, insanity, and just plain WRONG traits of humanity, which is rapidly speeding towards the abyss, along with all of the global socio-political problems that go along with that. We enact our right to Freedom of Speech and Independent Thought in this increasingly Neo-Fascistic, Thought-Policed society. This doesn’t mean that all of the writing will be ‘negative’ or ‘aggressive’. There are more ways than one to skin a cretin, or to deconstruct the fallacies of our media-manipulated world! We will use words, with all of their wit, humour, irony, imagination and intelligence to satirise the modern day ills of our fucked up world.

In other words, WE WILL CACKLE UNCONTROLLABLY, OUR EYES TWISTING IN OUR SKULLS, SPITTLE DRIPPING FROM OUR CHINS, AS WE FEVERISHLY GARROTE THE OVERFED, CRETINOUS LEADERS AND FALSE ICONS OF OUR SO-CALLED CIVILISATION!

No, This will NOT mean a blog full of miserable whining and depressing laments. We are better than that. But it WILL contain a passionate and sometimes vehement defence of our inalienable right to say whatever the fuck we like! (within reason of course).

The website will consist of essays, poems, prose, short stories, novels, articles, or whatever else you want to contribute, in the way of art, photography, illustrations, films, etc, on individual sections of the site. The website will focus on all forms of writing, as will the writers group we will hold at a central London venue, once a month, with various talks and discussions based around our work which we will bring along each time to recite, or dissect (details to be decided later, but I suggest a nice, quiet, central pub, with cheap beer and ales!)

If any of you are interested in this new venture, then please meet myself and Gianluca at this fantastic sounding gig in Kings Cross on Sunday 12th August, to see some of the bands, work out a plan of action, get pissed, rant and laugh uncontrollably! (Without any garrotting, hopefully).

The wonderful and eclectic International Times is an example of the type of template we envisage, at least for the website.

Come – join us on our world shattering mission! The rest of humanity needs our incredible insights and tyrannical theories!

Well, whatever happens, at least we will be able to play at being like some of the Bohemian writers, artists, philosophers, musicians, anarchists and other members of the Symbolist/Dada/Surrealists/Beat movements, who used to meet in cafes and bars, get drunk and rant at regular intervals, in the Parisian days of old.
Aaah, the beautiful memory-vapor of diffuse nostalgia…..
