Song of The Luckless Worm

Taught by prayer
The Aztec’s god and his thirst
 For blood
 Is insatiable
 Disabled men poised
 Over angry sticks
 Fresh from the Awakening
 Desiring the future
 remain silent
 Life -the luckless worm
On the hot pavement
Call me blind
Call me a coward
I have a woman
A sure lover tumbling
Into my  open arms
And as an atheist
There is nothing Holier
To be known
Than her tilted
Upward
Expectant face.
