That the road was not the thing that got her going,
but going that gave her the road.

That if it wasn’t for loving the people she liked,
the people she liked might have loved her.

That she never saw a man as the freedom to choose,
but the choice to be free of his ways –

it wasn’t so much her finger that wore his ring,
as his ring that wore down her finger.
